Today's Prompt:
The butterfly effect posits that a small change can ripple across whole ecosystems. Who do you credit for the small action that made all the difference in your life this year?
One small thing that made a big impact was simply meeting someone through volunteer work. I volunteer every couple of weeks with the West LA Burrito Project and I've gotten to know some of the regulars pretty well. One of those regulars passed my name along to a friend of hers and now I'm a freelance drafter for that person. This is great, because it's actual architectural drafting, which I haven't done since I left Seattle. It's been great to think about architectural concerns and use that part of my brain again. It's a pretty standard story about putting yourself out there and something good happening.

It might be a standard story, but how many people actually go out and do the volunteering to begin with? You should be really proud of yourself for giving back that way.
